This book is edited by Megan Wonowidjoyo, an art educator and researcher who teaches at the higher education level in Malaysia. While the book “Nurturing the Artistic Voice I” discussed strategies for creative art learning in physical classrooms, this book “Nurturing the Artistic Voice II” turns to the online environment as a platform for art education. COVID-19 has made online learning a compulsory mode of education, bringing with it many challenges in terms of translating teaching strategies suitable for online mode. Art education is commonly tied to the physical classroom and depends on physical presence as a site of learning. Translated to online mode, this book experiments with artmaking in the genres of still life, portraiture, landscape, and abstraction using memory as a site of learning. This book is a valuable resource for art educators keen to explore creative strategies for learning using the online platform. Challenged with facing a flat computer screen in online classes, we wonder how the art educator can inject fun and engagement with students to make online learning more immersive.
